Our History

Clean Conscience (originally branded as Busy Brooms Cleaning Services) was founded in 2003 by Amanda Schofield. Grounded in the principles of delivering the best possible service for clients, as well as a happy and healthy work environment for employees, the company met with unprecedented success.

Recognizing the grounded values, already established success and growing potential for the business, Michael and Stephanie Wilmott offered to invest in the business in 2005. This new partnership provided the necessary cash injection to help move the business to new heights... and the success story continued.

In 2006, the newly-formed management team purchased Dusting Divas - another local cleaning company who specialized in manufacturing all natural aromatherapy cleaning products.

With the purchase of the Dusting Divas product line, the company principals strategically opted to rebrand the company to something that more appropriately reflected the combined offerings of both products and services. After much deliberation, Clean Conscience was born. This new identity better reflected the company culture and the fact that the organization operates from a values base that is very conscious of:

• the clients well being
• the employees well being
• the well being of community and the environment
• creating a cleaner today for a greener tomorrow

Amanda Schofield - President

In 2002, while working in the hospitality industry, Amanda was presented with a unexpected opportunity within the cleaning services industry. Recognizing her personal satisfaction in creating clean and healthy home environments, Amanda opted to open her own cleaning business. The company, originally founded as Busy Brooms Cleaning Services was launched in 2003. Starting as a sole proprietor and the only employee, Amanda (and the management team) parleyed the small cleaning company into an organization that now employs over 10 employees (including 2 managers) that manufactures and distributes a full line of environmentally friendly cleaning products and maintains a full residential and commercial cleaning service with more than 60 regular clients.

Amanda is actively involved in the community through her volunteer work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Victoria and the Terry Fox Run.  She represents the company at local Farmer's Markets, donating considerable amounts of the proceeds to local charity.  Her passion for her work is contageous, and her commitment to honesty, courtesy, and integrity forms the backbone of the company's culture.

 

Michael Wilmott - Vice President

Michael's career began at a young age in the banking industry in which he spent 8 years developing his financial skills. In 1981 Michael then moved into the Life Insurance business, where in he was appointed as the National Sales Manager and created the third largest sales force in the UK. Before coming to Canada, Michael spent his last 3 years in the UK, as the CEO for IDN PLC Telecommunications.

As Managing Director for Clean Conscience, Michael utilizing his strong financial and strategic knowledge, works closely with the management team focusing on the growth and development of the company.
